Ashanti's upcoming album Braveheart is still riding the delayed train, but she's finding exciting ways to keep herself busy. Her latest efforts find her teaming with First Lady Michelle Obama for her new hip hop health initiative, via the Obama Hip Hop Public Health Foundation, a venture she is passionate about.
Although the Grammy winner has never struggled with weight issues, she insists that mentally it takes a toll because of insecurities surrounding possible weight gain.
"As a public figure, you always have to worry about, 'Do I look Ok? Are my arms too big? Are my legs big...? And you have to constantly try to be in shape, so you don't give people too much to talk about," says Ashanti.
Ashanti will band together with other artists to deliver the message, "...believe in yourself, believe you can do big things and dream big... Be fit and be healthy." In addition, they will release an uplifting album for teens in October (2013).
